Cool Writing Tips

Back when I used to look at Listverse.com all the time, I came across an article of theirs about writing. It's pretty old--from 2007--but useful nonetheless!

Still Working On It

An unusual world...mysterious creatures...exotic locations...malevolent beings...
and a search within this world to find the ones with answers--and a way to get the three back home.

Goodreads is Fun

Goodreads is a cool website where you can post reviews of books, take book quizzes, and do much more. As an avid reader, I use it quite a lot. Here's a link to my account! http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/3943060-zaji

My novel is complete!

Well, I've done it! I have professionally printed my novel, ArJarelia: The Discovery. It is a fantasy-adventure story, written for the middle-grade audience. It is about three young friends who stumble upon an alternate universe, where they encounter creatures they've never heard of, new allies, pirates, and fascinating new locations.
I am currently selling copies for $10 each.If you would like to take part in these amazing adventures, or you know someone who would (it's a lot of fun!), send me an email at arledger15@gmail.com. I don't have many copies right now, but if I people want to read it and let me know I will print out more.

Yay!

New Excerpt From My Writing

I've been doing a lot of writing lately, and I've composed a lot of new stuff. Here's an excerpt of one of short stories called The Venoctes:

"We come when the sun’s eye graciously leaves the town, disappearing behind the hilltop. We come at the time when birds rest for the night and bats take over the skies. We come to ride on the cool evening breeze with our bat friends and to seek the nourishment we need for the next 364 days we are gone from this realm."

Synesthesia Writing Exercises

Have you ever heard of synesthesia?
It's when one mixes up the senses, basically. For example: "A wolf's howl tastes like the rain" mixes sound and taste, "That song was a sweet-smelling rose" mixes sound and smell, "Your shirt is loud today" combines sight and sound, and so on. I remember a time when I was in a writing group and we did a great exercise that used just this. We were each given two senses to use (out of sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell) and were to create a sentence like the previous two. It was fun, and very helpful. So, if you want to improve your writing and stretch your brain, I suggest giving this a try!
